Welcoming the New Year is undoubtedly a world wide event. From street parties to homely family gatherings, the New Year is indeed a time that holds a certain significance in our lives. Likewise, in GCC, we too celebrated the New Year by ‘partying’ the night out with God! :)

Yes, we partied the night with God. This “party” is what we call the Watch Night Service. It’s a time whereby we gather together on New Year’s eve night to remember and to give thanks to God for what He has done in the past year while at the same time, to welcome the coming year with Him. Here at GCC, we spent our Watch Night Service in a slightly unconventional manner.

For the past two years, GCC has had its Watch Night Service with its “Creative Offering” approach. As we gather together on New Year’s eve in church, we are given the opportunity to present a creative offering - it could be from presenting a dance, to singing a song, to reciting a poem, to acting, to painting and so on - it’s basically our time to offer up to God our personal way of saying thanks for what He has done in our lives for the past one year. It’s really encouraging to firstly hear the many testimonies from the members and there after, to witness their form of creative offering.

The new year marks a new journey of discovery, of tests and challenges, and of greater joy in the Lord. As GCC steps into the year 2010, the theme is “The Year of Deepening”. We seek to deepen our relationship with God, understanding Him from the core basics of Christian living and from there deepen our roots even further.
Be prepared for greater things! 2010 will mark another significant year as we seek to make God famous!
