| October 10, 2009 5:00 am | to | October 17, 2009 12:00 pm |
Run for the Nation 2009 is a single morning running event, which sees Christians praying as they run on the roads of selected cities throughout the country. The runners are grouped into teams of 3’s. Each team is required to cover 4km of a preselected route passing by homes, schools, commercial and government buildings, religious sites and other places of interest. As they run, one will pray aloud and the other two will agree. In order to cover the most ground during the runs it is done relay style using a Prayer Card in place of a baton.
The objective of this run is firstly to pray for our nation. As we come to a crossroad in the direction our country is headed for, it is our duty as believers to pray for our nation. Secondly, this event is open to all Christians from every denomination and every age group. Therefore, the objective is also to unite the body of Christ through the participation of Christians from different churches and Christian organizations. Lastly, it is also to encourage youth and all alike to remember the nation in prayer and to lead a prayerful life.
The event will be held on 10 October 2009, Saturday, from 5am-12pm. As of now, the Penang state is still in the process of finalizing the route.
Those interested will have to register, with a small fee of RM10 only. The closing date is 19 September 2009. An optional t-shirt is available for purchase at RM20.
